Entry Requirements

All students entering the Sixth Form at Taunton School are required to have a minimum of five GCSE grades A* to C or an equivalent qualification.

Success at the IB Diploma depends on good motivation and organisational skills, and every case will be looked at individually. However we do recommend for most subjects to be studied at HL a student should have at least grade 'A' at GCSE. Students hoping to study mathematics or Language B at HL should have an A* at GCSE. Regardless of subjects chosen, all potential IB Diploma students are also recommended to have at least grade 'B' at GCSE in mathematics, English and a second language.

Students from outside the UK who have not studied GCSE courses may be asked to sit a short test in English language, mathematics and any additional language that they wish to study.
