School pupils raise funds for Forces Charity SSAFA

Posted: 23rd July 2017

Pupils from Taunton Preparatory School raised £300 recently for forces charity SSAFA by dressing in mufti for a day.

The pupils, who were preparing to watch a spectacular parachute display on the same day, wore their own clothes to school in a bid to raise much-deserved funds for the local SSAFA organisation.

SSAFA, whose mission states that it “exists to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst the Armed Forces, veterans and their families in order to support their independence and dignity”, is a key charity that Taunton School supports.

The parachute display was organised to raise awareness of the SSAFA charity. Unfortunately the weather that day wasn’t being cooperative which meant that it was too hazardous for the Tigers Freefall Parachute team to carry out their display. That didn’t stop the children getting an up close demonstration of the smoke-plumes and parachutes and chatting to the elite military display team.
