ADVENTURES & TRIPS

Taunton School Nursery Garden Outdoor Fun
ADVENTURES & TRIPS

Adventures and trips play a big part in the learning process at Taunton School. That’s because we believe experiencing the outside world and all it has to offer is just as important and instrumental to your child’s development as our Nursery-based activities.

Our beautiful setting is ideal for welly walks and the exploration and discovery of our extensive grounds. And when it’s time to explore further afield, our buses transport us to local attractions to enjoy seasonal walks and picnics.

Whether it’s a trip to Hestercombe Gardens or Fyne Court to discover the local wildlife, or a visit to Bicton Park, Pecorama and the seaside or a steam train journey to Minehead, our adventures open up an exciting world of possibilities for your child to enjoy.

But that’s not all: visits from the local fire service and police, plus our very own fire engine, ensure the fun and learning continues in our own outdoor setting.

DANCE

DANCE

Combining three of the Early Learning Goals – Communication and Language, Personal Development and Physical Development – dance is a fun way for your child to express themselves whilst developing new skills.

Our dance lessons not only build self-confidence, self esteem and performance skills, but also encourage children to use their imagination. From listening to music, following instructions, practising, interacting and dancing with other children, to developing spatial awareness, motor and social skills.

Dance is also a great way to use up your child’s excess energy, whilst helping them to master movement, coordination, balance and precision, as well as appreciate music, rhythm and flow.

FOREST SCHOOL

FOREST SCHOOL

With the Forest School just on our doorstep, enjoying a welly walk, splashing in puddles or seeking out the local wildlife is all part of Nursery life.

This exciting natural environment allows your child to safely explore and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer, from creating or visiting  bug hotels, making traps and bivouacs, to foraging for insects and blackberries.

Whether we’re making musical instruments, sitting around the fire pit singing songs or enjoying biscuits and a well-earned hot chocolate, there’s never a dull moment at the Forest School.

MUSIC AND DRAMA

MUSIC AND DRAMA

Our weekly music and drama lesson is a fun way for children to explore and develop their musical and dramatic abilities.

Taught by our Director of Music, and Music Teachers, the lesson covers rhythm, pitch and timbre, as well as exploring percussion, composition and music from around the world.

Outside of the classroom, our Nursery children also participate in many of the school’s musical and performing arts activities. These include the Christmas Nativity and class and whole school assemblies celebrating Harvest, World Peace Day, Remembrance, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Easter and Christmas.

This provides a great opportunity for you and your family to see your child’s performance and musical achievements, whilst experiencing some truly amazing Taunton School productions.

In fact, regardless of whether your child is participating, you are welcome to join us at our many concerts and performances throughout the year.
