Sixth Form at Taunton School

Whether students are new to Taunton School or whether they move into the Sixth Form from within, the moment is a defining one. It marks a clear transition and it brings with it a changed status, students are regarded within the School community as young adults.

There will be many choices and decisions to be made; the most significant of which is choosing between AS / A level courses and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Irrespective of which course is chosen there then lie decisions about subjects to be studied. Students will be offered the best possible advice from highly experienced and sensitive members of staff.

Taunton School has an excellent academic record, results are outstanding and the vast majority of our students secure a place at their first choice university. We are a value adding School in every sense.

Beyond the academic arena, Sixth Form life brings a broad range of opportunities. We aim to provide 'something for everyone' so that students are empowered to make choices that are right for them. Music, drama and sport are very strong and there are many opportunities for leadership development and contribution.

The Sixth Form at Taunton School is a dynamic place. The Sixth Form centre, The Guvvy, provides a friendly place with a very special atmosphere where students can meet and socialise. We offer a wealth of opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment, from the Gala Christmas Ball to film and pizza evenings.

We do all we can to ensure that our students leave the Sixth Form with a firm sense that we are part of a global society, not just in terms of industry and communication but in our responsibility for the welfare and happiness of all who dwell on our planet.

Michael Cook - Head of Sixth Form
