IB Results Day 2010

This year’s Upper Sixth IB Diploma students have much to celebrate after receiving another fantastic set of results. This follows on from last year where the School was ranked as the highest IB newcomer in the UK by the Financial Times. Jamie Wilman achieved an outstanding score of 45 points. This is the highest score possible for the IB Diploma which puts him in the top 0.2% of students worldwide. Other successes include Joss Hiett, who takes up his place to read History and English at Oxford. Joss achieved 40 points with top scores in all his Higher Level subjects. William Wickman and Susan Sebatindira both take up places at the London School of Economics, while Laura Harwood has achieved a coveted place at the Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design. All three achieved top grades equivalent to well above three A grades at A Level.

“I am delighted for all these students. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is now becoming firmly established in Somerset as a strong and successful alternative to A Levels. Increasingly popular with universities, it offers a challenging programme with a breadth and independence of study that is unique at this level.” said Martin Bluemel, the School’s IB Diploma Coordinator.
