Boarding at Taunton School
Why Board at Taunton School?
Close friends on hand, abundant sporting and cultural activities, access to extensive resources and the opportunity to develop skills and friendships beyond those offered in the home environment are just some of the advantages of life at Taunton School. We offer a friendly, relaxed but well controlled environment that gives an enormous range of advantages to pupils in our care.Boarding is ideal for families who do not live close to the school, and whilst distance is often a factor, there are many other benefits that result in children wanting to board.
- Research indicates that a prime reason that parents choose boarding for their son's and daughter's is that their children emerge confident, mature and independent.
- Many parents, and often children themselves, choose to board for the opportunities that may otherwise not be available in their own area, and because all our pupils get the support they need during what are often vulnerable years.
- Parents cite the positive features of boarding as being their children's own happiness and enjoyment of boarding, the benefits of a wealth of extra-curricula activities, academic success, community spirit, and the fostering of tolerance.
- Strong friendships made whilst boarding often last a lifetime. Learning how to live with others builds strong relationships and develops a tolerance for individuals that is fostered during the school years.
More reasons to Board at Taunton School
The choice and range of extra-curricula opportunities - notably sporting and recreational pursuits - also rate highly with boarders.
Where distance from home to school is a factor, time spent travelling will impact on the time that can be devoted to leisure pursuits.
By living at the school pupils have both the time and the facilities available to them for developing sporting skills and social contacts.
Pupils benefit from the range of activities available to boarders and in many cases, can participate in a variety of cultural and leisure activities.
Taunton School's proximity to Taunton town centre, and conversely to the countryside can provide boarding students with experiences that they would otherwise miss in their home environment.
Taunton School's boarding provision is a community designed for the pupils and managed by a team of staff committed to providing an atmosphere that is warm, friendly, caring and disciplined.
Pupils learn self confidence, independence and how to live with others in a supportive environment where standards of behaviour are determined for the benefit and welfare of all.
Our Boarding Houses create a home away from home environment for pupils and although we cannot replace the role of the parent in providing primary care and having responsibility for each child, the living environment is designed to provide well balanced and happy surrounding for our pupils.
Boarding in the Sixth Form
At Taunton School, we aim to create an atmosphere in which Sixth Form pupils can develop their own unique collection of talents.
We encourage all Sixth Formers to make the most of a wide range of opportunities that will allow them to move smoothly into the wider world
we hope that they will feel confident with their new found independence as they move towards higher education and the world of work.
There is a great deal of scope for breadth and, although emphasis is focused on academic study, we ensure that individuals do not lose sight of aesthetic, sporting and social interests.
