Taunton School Choir had the prestigious opportunity to perform carols and seasonal songs at Blenheim Palace last Sunday as part of the Festival of Events programme. They were the only school choir to perform as a solo group and were just one of two invited to perform to visitors during the festive season.
The choir performed over 20 seasonal numbers including pieces by Stopford and Rutter as well as well-known classic carols such as “We wish you a Merry Christmas” and “Ding Dong Merrily on High”, which the audience were invited to sing along with. Karen Wiseman, Head of Education at Blenheim Palace said: “Thank you so much for being willing to bring your choir to sing for the visitors here at Blenheim. It is always a highlight of our Christmas.”
Blenheim Palace is a historic house in Oxfordshire and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Taunton School has strong ties with this country house, as organist, Andrew Patterson formerly attended the School.
