Posted: 14th March 2017

The Taunton School U19 and U15 Netball Teams have triumphed at the recent county tournament, winning 9 consecutive games and crowning them County Cup Champions.

With eight teams entered, the U19 Netball Squad had to win the first three games to secure a semi-final spot. They did just that, and beat King’s College 15-4, Queen’s College 9-0 and King’s Bruton 14-4 in the first round. They then went on to win the semi-final against Well’s Cathedral placing them in a final versus the strong Richard Huish College team. They were once again victorious in this match, winning 11-10 and placing them in 1st place and County Cup Champions.

Next up were the U15 Team. The squad headed into the County Cup tournament unbeaten and determined to continue their winning streak. They managed to fend off competition from Wellington School, Well’s Cathedral School, Queen’s College and King’s College, winning every game comfortably. Once again the Taunton School squad were placed 1st and announced the County Cup Champions.

Lisa Manley, Head of Netball at Taunton School commented: “The whole squad arrived full of determination and a desire to win and should be pleased with their performance. Alex Maskell, captain of the U19 team carried out her role well. The U15 team also played extremely well, with two U14s (Isla May and Flora Collier) stepping up boldly to play in the older age group.”
