Forty Taunton School athletes represented the Taunton area team at the County Championships in Yeovil last Saturday, claiming five gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

It was a particularly notable performance from Matt Alvarez who ran two personal bests, of 10.77s for the 100m and 21.68 for the 200m, both National Standards (a National Standard is indicative of top 8 in the country). Frank Tickner Head of Athletics at Taunton School said: “One of these would be fantastic, two in the same afternoon is an exceptional achievement.”
