Christmas at Weirfield

Posted: 16th December 2019

Christmas well and truly arrived in Weirfield last week with the girls kicking off their festive celebrations with ‘Festive Friday’.

Accompanied by some classic Christmas songs which led to some impromptu karaoke from a good number of the girls, then the evening was spent decorating the tree and getting the decorations just right, as well as taking festive selfies or ‘elfies’ in a nod to the festive season!
Next up was the annual Gingerbread House competition where the girls tried to be as inventive as possible when making and decorating their houses. However, it didn’t really matter who won as everyone got to enjoy eating their marvelous constructions afterwards, a prize in itself! On Saturday night the 6th Form enjoyed the Christmas Gala Ball, a great excuse to get dressed up for a wonderful evening of delicious food, great music and a fantastic fireworks display.
Our Christmas House Outing took place on Monday evening and the whole house tried out Taunton’s first ever ice rink on its opening night. Once the opening ceremony had taken place and Taunton’s Mayor and other dignitaries had left the ice it was our turn! Despite a few wobbles along the way everyone quickly found their feet on the ice, with some showing of some impressive skills such as twists and turns as well as skating on one leg! Having worked up quite an appetite we went to Hubbox for a lovely meal and the annual Weirfield House talent show and the exchanging of Secret Santa gifts. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a great way to round off the term.

Merry Christmas from all in Weirfield!
