This month has seen some fantastic achievements from our Taunton School swim teams.

On Saturday 20th November, students travelled to the London Aquatics Centre to take part in the ESSA National Team Championships.

Here, the Junior Boys became National Champions in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay while also picking up a bronze medal in the 4x50m Medley Relay. The Inter Girls team qualified to both finals placing 8th in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay and 10th in the 4x50m Medley Relay. The Junior Girls came 16th and 17th in the Medley and Freestyle Relays, and the Inter Boys came 11th and 13th in the Freestyle and Medley relay, just missing out on a place in the final.

Also earlier this month, swimmer Chloe performed outstandingly in the Swim England South West Winter Regionals.

Chloe gained a personal best in six events and six finals, with four junior gold medals, a junior silver medal and two senior silver medals. She is currently ranked number one in Britain in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Swimming is a key part of school life that plays a prominent part of the curriculum from Reception age up and these achievements are testament to the hard work of our students. All pupils swim at least once a week until Year 3; pupils then swim for at least two half term blocks in their PE lessons. Taunton School is home to two pools where students regularly swim, with pupils swimming at least once a week until Year 3, then regularly in their PE lessons for at least two half-term blocks.
