Students at Taunton School are celebrating after they received their International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results on Saturday 6th July 2024.

Taunton School has successfully seen all of its 30 students complete their IBDP this year, with Darcy Becker achieving the highest mark of 43. The average score achieved by Taunton School students was 33.5, compared to the global average score of 30.2.

Darcy is currently Deputy Head Girl at Taunton School and was awarded a scholarship to study the International Baccalaureate at Taunton School Sixth Form. She is now looking forward to heading to her first choice university in September.

Adrian Roberts, Assistant Head Global and IBDP Coordinator, said: “I am delighted at the results our IB students have achieved this year and that all their hard work has paid off.

“To have so many students achieve scores way above the global average is a real testament to the teaching at Taunton School and the level of commitment we instill in our students. Well done everyone!”

IBDP students at Taunton School received offers from a range of top universities this year, including London School of Economics, King’s College London, York, Warwick, Queen Mary’s London, and a number of international schools including Pepperdine in California, EU Business School in Barcelona, and Northeastern University in Boston, USA, which student Matvey Rollett received an unconditional offer for earlier this year.

The International Baccalaureate has been established for more than 50 years with Taunton School being one of the first schools in the South West to offer the diploma, beginning in 2007.

The globally-recognised qualification sees students study six subjects of their choice and three core elements, theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity, activity and service (CAS). The IBDP is taught in 143 countries around the world. A score of 36 out of 45 is equivalent to three A grades at A-Level.

Taunton School uniquely offers four pathways to higher education in its on-site Sixth Form, with IBDP being one of them. It offers a range of scholarships and assisted places to help students access education at the leading independent school. Visit Scholarships to find out more.
