Concert Pianist captivates audience in Chapel

International concert pianist, Rupert Egerton-Smith, opened the 2026 Henry Keeling Memorial Lecture Series with a recital in the Chapel on Thursday 5th February.
His programme, shaped around dance influenced works, included music by Rameau, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Ginastera and Albéniz. Describing and contextualising each piece of music prior to playing it, Rupert then took questions from the audience regarding his career path from consultancy to the international stage.
Rupert has appeared at major venues worldwide, among them the Berlin Philharmonie and New York’s Carnegie Hall. An appointed Steinway Artist, Rupert was delighted to hear that, thanks to the generosity of our community during our recent Giving Day, the school will be purchasing a Steinway grand piano as part of the refurbishment of the Gwyn Williams Music Room.
The Henry Keeling Memorial Lectures provide students and our wider community with access to incredible speakers from a range of disciplines. Details of the next lecture will be shared soon but if you would consider speaking then please email the Foundation and Alumni Office at foundation@tauntonschool.co.uk.
