OT sets two world hang-gliding records

Jeremy Soper

Congratulations to Jeremy Soper (Evans, 2003–2013) who recently set two world records in hang-gliding for out and return declared distance and free distance. His record breaking 377.8km closed circuit flight over Kenya’s Rift Valley was completed in an impressive 10 hours and 37 minutes.

Jeremy first discovered hang-gliding during his final term at Taunton School, taking up the sport to overcome his fear of heights as part of his ambition to become an astronaut. He went on to design, build and test fly his own hang glider and microlight, win the British hang-gliding league and earn his aeroplane licence.
