Giving Day Transforms Gwyn Williams Music Room

Gwyn Williams Music Room

Thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, staff and friends during our 2025 Giving Day, the Gwyn Williams Music Room has undergone a remarkable transformation, creating an outstanding new rehearsal and recital space for the school’s musicians.

Among the significant upgrades are a prestigious Steinway Model C Grand Piano, alongside bespoke ash acoustic wall cladding designed to deliver a clear, balanced sound for soloists and small ensembles.

The renovation also includes integrated audio-visual technology to support high-quality recording and live streaming, a new lighting system, and extensive improvements to flooring, electrics, plumbing and decoration.

Matthew Cook, Deputy Head Co-Curricular, said:

“The quality of this refurbishment is remarkable. The Gwyn Williams Room now bears comparison with some of the finest recital halls in both design and acoustics. This reflects our ongoing commitment to our thriving Music and Performing Arts programme, and to the provision our musicians deserve.

My thanks to our brilliant staff, our partners, and the hugely generous donors who made it possible. We are all excited to see the space in use for both rehearsal and performance.”

The transformation forms part of our wider campus enhancement programme, ensuring pupils continue to benefit from exceptional facilities that support their academic, creative and co-curricular development.
