International Boarding at Taunton School

Whilst students join all sections of our school, we do have a dedicated international boarding house for Taunton School International.

Boarding plays a key role in our students’ exciting educational journey, helping them to cement lifelong friendships, build confidence and develop independence and self-resilience. All students will experience a warm and supportive atmosphere in their selected house and the house becomes a focal point of students’ lives at school. 

Across Taunton School, there are 8 boarding houses, with 6 of these being fully integrated houses (UK and International) and 2 offering bespoke boarding for students studying at Taunton School International.

All younger boarders reside at Thone House.

All other senior school aged boarders reside in one of the other 5 boarding houses at Taunton School.

Life for International Boarders in England

International students integrate with the British students at the Senior and Prep Schools in a variety of ways, for example, in sport, music, art, drama, lectures, social events, after-school clubs, weekend trips and inter-house competitions.

All of our international students make full use of the outstanding facilities on the 56-acre Taunton School campus, including two indoor swimming pools, sports halls, fitness suite, climbing wall, tennis and squash courts, football pitches, music school, theatre, dance studio, library, sixth form centre, art school and state-of-the-art dining hall.

Prospective students and their parents are always welcome to visit, and we look forward to showing you around one of our boarding houses at Taunton School. 

Boarding at Taunton School International (14 - 18 years old)

For international students studying on our bespoke International Academic Pathways, Foxcombe East (boys) and Foxcombe West (girls) offer a warm, welcoming home environment in which every member of our community can truly thrive.

Our international senior students come from many different backgrounds, and we celebrate the diverse range of nationalities, cultures, and faiths within the boarding community – continually offering opportunities for students to embrace the world around them.

Foxcombe Boarding House

Foxcombe East is home to our male students studying at Taunton School International. The House has single, twin and triple rooms, some of which are en-suite, and provides a friendly, relaxing and respectful home for up to 52 boys, aged 14-18.

The Foxcombe Boys are encouraged to be kind, generous and competitive in equal measure. The diversity of nationalities and characters makes the House a unique environment in which students make friendships that we are confident will last for a lifetime.

Foxcombe West is home to 33 girls, aged 14-18, studying at Taunton School International. The House has single, twin and triple rooms and provides that all important home-from-home feel. The cosy corridors of the Girls’ House are always filled with the sound of laughter and behind every door there is a sister ready to look after you.

Both boarding houses are situated in their own spacious grounds, within the 56-acre school campus, with a basketball area, table tennis table and pool table and all our Foxcombe boys and girls have full access to the extensive school playing fields which are to the rear of the campus.

Students enjoy socialising in the large shared common room during the evenings and weekends and can often be found teaching each other how to cook traditional food in the student kitchen.
