We believe in the transformative power of drama education

Our vibrant Drama Department is a hub of creativity, innovation, and expression, where students explore the rich tapestry of human experiences through the art of performance.

With the opportunity to be involved in our exciting stage productions either as actors, designers, directors, or assisting in a technical capacity such as costume, lighting design or sound, we ignite the imaginations of our students and empower them to become confident, collaborative, empathetic, and resilient individuals.

Whether you dream of treading the boards in a classic Shakespearean play or exploring contemporary issues through devised theatre, our diverse and extensive range of co-curricular activities cater to all interests and skill levels.

We offer four major productions each year

Alongside academic lessons, our highly experienced Drama teachers and full time Performing Arts Technical Manager produce a performance schedule that enjoys four major productions each year; past productions include ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and ‘Brontë’, with regular whole school musicals such as ‘Les Misérables’ and, most recently, ‘The Addams Family’ showcasing the breadth and depth of Performing Arts talent from within our school community.

There are many Drama clubs to be involved with too, such as ‘Musical Theatre’, ‘Technical Theatre’ and ‘Improv’, through to individual and group Speech and Drama lessons where students can work towards LAMDA qualifications.

We offer a supportive and inclusive community

Community is so important to us. We provide a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and celebrate others’ successes. This culminates in our Performing Arts Awards Evening at the end of the Summer term, where students from Music, Drama, Debating, and Dance come together to watch a few select performances and congratulate each other for their contributions throughout the year.

Diversity is celebrated and inclusion is non-negotiable. Our Drama Department is a welcoming space where students from all backgrounds come together to collaborate, learn, and grow as artists and individuals. From auditioning for and receiving places at Drama Schools or on specialist courses with world-renowned organisations, to participating in national competitions, our students gain invaluable real-world experience that prepares them for success on the stage.

Whether you are a seasoned performer or taking your first steps onto the stage, we offer a dynamic and enriching experience like no other. Come and discover the magic of drama education with us!
