In line with the school’s vision, our Clubs & Societies are designed to challenge, inspire and nurture young people to succeed in a global community. The aim is to allow students to experience a range of activities and develop skills beyond those in the core curriculum and sports programmes.
Students are encouraged to try new clubs, often outside of their comfort zone, with the target of broadening their own horizons. Over 100 different clubs are offered across the whole school catering for different age groups, interests and abilities, and many of our clubs have been suggested and set up by students themselves.
The Clubs and Societies are integrated into the school day, providing balance and fulfilment across the week, and reflecting the importance we place on ensuring students enjoy stimulating and life-enhancing experiences throughout their time at school.
Whether it’s Astronomy, Ballet, Debating, Scientific or Maths Society, Young Enterprise, Cookery, Model United Nations, Yoga, Funk band, Computer Programming, Chess, or Eco Club, we feel confident there is something for everyone.
For older students, there are many opportunities to get involved in volunteering clubs and connect with the local community, such as supporting younger children with reading, teaching languages and conservation work. Students report that the volunteering clubs help them to develop new skills such as independence, confidence and professionalism, as well as the added benefit of providing excellent evidence of their enrichment for their CVs and UCAS applications.
There is no charge for the vast majority of clubs and societies, although some may involve a small fee for additional costs, to cover external tuition or access to specialist facilities (e.g. golf driving range).
