We are on hand to provide information to assist you in booking your child’s transport to and from the UK, to coincide with our meet and greet airport transfer service. For children who require a visa, we will advise you about the process involved in obtaining a visa and supply the necessary evidence to support the visa application.
Most students fly independently to one of a number of airports in the south and south west. The main airports are London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Bristol airports. Some European flights may also be available to Exeter or Southampton airports.
Airport transfers are not included in the course fees. The school will provide minibus transfers from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Bristol airports at 0900, 1100, 1330, 1500 and 1730. These are available on Saturday, 22nd and Sunday 23rd August.
Cost of Transfers
London Gatwick Airport
London Heathrow Airport
Unaccompanied minors may incur an additional cost of £20 per hour for waiting times. This will only be applied if necessary.
We can arrange a taxi on your behalf from a trusted Taunton taxi company for journeys outside these dates and times if required. This will incur additional costs.
Pick Up and Drop Off Service
The school operates a free airport transfer from and to Heathrow and Bristol airports for flights arriving between 9.00am and 5.00pm on arrivals day.
Summer School Staff will coordinate transfers at the airports throughout the day.
We are able to arrange transfers from and to other airports or outside the hours stated but this will incur an additional cost.
Many parents choose to use the Unaccompanied MinorService offered by airlines. We would encourage parents of very young children to use it.
Where taxis are used for airport transfers, the school only uses taxi companies whose drivers have been approved to work with children and schools.
Visas and Passports
Students from the European Union, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland, or from an Overseas Country or Territory (OCT); can enter the UK with a valid Passport or National Identity Card. A visa is not required.
Students from countries not listed above require a visa and a valid passport to enter the United Kingdom. Students attending Taunton School in September will be contacted by our Admissions Department to discuss their visa application. Students who will attend the Pre-Sessional course and return home will need a Short Term Student Study Visa. Once you have registered on a Summer School course you will be sent a supporting letter to help with your visa application.
