Shining Stars

Every-so-often there are a set of events or circumstances that come together which, upon reflection, can engender an enormous sense of pride. Last weekend was just such a period of time which saw a number of community events take place which made me feel very privileged to be the Prep School Headmaster. The sequence of occasions began with a wonderfully fitting Remembrance Service held in the Chapel and at the War Memorial by Reverend Dietz alongside our guest, Padre David Crees on Friday. It always amazes me how sensitively and respectfully the children approach this important occasion, and I am pleased that we were able to honour our fallen soldiers in such a fitting manner. We then looked forward to our Year 6 pupils’ musical performance of ‘Splash’ on Friday night. My pride came from the performance of course, but most especially from the fact that a sickness bug had swept through the cast meaning urgent stand-in actors were required…. Alongside Mr Manners, special mention must be made of Findlay Robertson as he tackled his demons by rising to the challenge of a last minute big part, and did both himself and the teachers proud! And finally, the weekend was capped by an amazingly professional performance by our Prep School pupils and some Year 9’s as they offered choral support to the Brit-Award winning BLAKE on stage at the Brewhouse. The children were praised for their talent as well as their manners and behaviour – in the words of the performers – they were “a credit to the school.” #proudheadmaster
