Support for Himalayan ChildrenTuesday, June 6, 2017
Our Head of International Middle School, Mary Allen, and TSIMS GRA Laura Smith are currently preparing for their visit to a remote part of North West India, which is situated between the Karakoram and the great Himalayan ranges. At the end of June this year, they will be travelling to Ladakh to provide further support for children in this deprived area.
We are hoping that staff, pupils and parents throughout the School will consider sponsoring / contributing something to enhance the lives of these children. Mary and Laura will be living in a small village, with very basic accommodation, no running water, no amenities or materialistic comforts. The time will be spent, wherever possible, teaching the children, many of whom are orphans educated in ‘state run’ boarding schools and helping other youngsters cared for by the Nuns in a local convent. Additionally, we are hoping to learn a great deal more about the people who live within this amazing place.
We would love to receive items such as puzzles and educational games for the younger children based in the Shey Lamdon Nursery School. Good quality clothing for children 5 years of age upwards would be much appreciated. We are happy to collect any items – just email email@example.com.
We are hoping that all members of the Taunton School Community will be able to help us with this venture. If you would like more information please contact Mary at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
