The singing opportunity of a lifetime came to fruition on Sunday as the Taunton School Prep Choir, as well as six Year 9 students, performed on stage at the Brewhouse Theatre with the vocal group Blake. The melodic trio gave a full evening concert of glorious heart-stopping numbers from films and musicals – part of their Stage and Screen show which is touring the country.
Our singers represented the school so proudly by providing the backing vocals for four of the songs Blake performed, including the vocally challenging and highly emotive tear-jerker “Nessun Dorma”, made famous by Pavarotti and The Three Tenors. The children also held the stage on their own, performing a medley from The Phantom of the Opera to huge audience acclaim.
The hard work certainly paid off and the experience shall be one they never forget. It was an honour to work with such highly acclaimed and talented professional performers. Well done to the children involved and to the parents for supporting your children throughout the short but very intense process.
