Taunton School appears on town’s Monopoly game
The eagerly awaited Taunton Monopoly game has been launched today (Thursday 19th October) and Taunton School has an iconic place on the unique edition.
Taking the green traditionally “Bond Street” location, and featuring on a Community Chest card, Taunton School is delighted to be part of the legendary family game sharing it with other significant members of the Taunton community and local landmarks.
Andrew Edwards, headmaster of Taunton Prep School, said: "We are very excited to be a part of this iconic family game which has stood the test of time. Enjoying family time together away from the myriad of screens everyone has these days is really important. There are also many disguised educational benefits to playing games such as Monopoly which help with children's development. Research shows that playing Monopoly can teach children maths skills and help them apply them to the real world of finance and investing, whether it’s adding up the dice, counting the money, learning budgeting skills, logic and reasoning, it all helps to back up what they are taught in the classroom. There are also the social aspects of the game such as negotiating with opponents, dealing with adversity, luck and planning ahead. I am looking forward to playing it at home with my boys.”
Players will be able to explore their county town landmarks in a totally unique way.
The School is delighted to feature on the game amongst its sponsor partners Taunton Rugby Club and The Brewhouse, as well as Somerset County Cricket Club, with which the school has strong links.
So will you be playing Taunton Monopoly this Christmas? The games go on sale today in many local retailers and we have some in school available to buy also.
