Taunton School International are delighted to announce another very successful year of results from their one-year GCSE students, with 41% achieving 9/A* grades (the highest grade possible). It is a remarkable achievement for the students to do so well in such a short space of time and in a second language.

  • TSI students achieved a 98% pass rate at 9 – 4 or (A* – C ) which is 22% higher than the national average pass rate in England of 67%.

  • TSI A*/A (9 – 7) pass rate is 41%, again, more than 20% higher than the national average in England of 20%.

  • The pass rate is over 95% in more than 12 subjects: Art, Biology, Business Studies, English, French, German, ICT, Japanese, Latin, Music, Psychology, Italian, Russian and Chinese.

  • A selection of top performing students were as follows:

  • Tamane Sugihara (Japanese): Two 9s, four 8s and one 7

  • Kian Pashapour (Iranian/Canadian): One 9, two 8s, three 6s, one 5 and one 4

  • Leone Romano (Italian): Two 9s, three 7s, one 6 and two 5s

  • Liang Liang Liu (Chinese): Two 9s, two 8s and two 7s

  • Arina Muratova (Russian): One 9, two 8s, two 7s and two 5s

Camilla Bryden, Head of Taunton School International, said: “I am delighted with this result. The students this year were a pleasure to work with and deserve this success. The GCSEs are not easy with the course content growing and becoming more challenging,  especially as much of the result is now final exam based rather than course work led. The sheer volume of work they are faced with from day one is hard to deal with, but they have all worked hard and proved their abilities at this stage in their academic careers.

The vast majority of our students achieved six or more GCSE passes, with a significant proportion attaining seven and others being successful in a remarkable eight subjects in just one year of study. At this point I must thank our wonderful staff here at TSI, without their constant support, encouragement and care the students would not be able to flourish and improve as much as they do.

Huge congratulations go to all the individuals who were at TSI this year, I am in awe of what they have all achieved and am sure that each and every one will continue into sixth form or further education successfully and make us proud as they go on to great things.”
