A day in the life of a child in Nursery 4…
The fun starts bright and early from 7.30am as we welcome children to the Nursery. After a short play indoors we begin with registration followed by Wake Up, Shake Up, a spot of singing and then say Good Morning and share our news.
Activities begin at 9am with indoor or outdoor free play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, swimming on Tuesdays, and PE on Thursdays. We break for a snack before resuming activities which include small group teaching time on Mondays at 11am, indoor or outdoor free play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, swimming on Thursdays, and expressive arts on Fridays.
At 11.20am it’s Phonics and Reading activity time until 11.30am, then we practice hand washing and get ready for lunch at 11.45am.
The afternoon begins at 12.30pm with quiet activities until 1.20pm. Then it’s playground play with gross motor toys on Mondays and Thursdays, Forest Play on Tuesdays and Fridays, and lower playground play on the climbing frame on Wednesdays until 2pm. Ballet taken as an extra curriculum activity is at 1.30pm until 2pm on Mondays.
From 2pm until 3pm, children enjoy table top games and cooking on Mondays, small group teaching time followed by free play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Circle Time activity followed by free play on Wednesdays, and Music and Movement followed by an Aunty Mabel Story on Fridays.
At 3pm until 3.20pm we all enjoy a healthy snack and then settle down to enjoy a listening tape from 3.20pm until 3.45pm. And for children staying after school, there’s more fun to be had with indoor and outdoor activities. We provide a tasty tea and you can collect anytime up until 5.45pm.
