Discover Our Nursery

Our Nursery setting

You’ll find the nursery space is warm, friendly, cosy and inviting.  That’s really important for our children. There are different areas for fun, sleep and lunch – each immaculately decorated, clean, safe and inspiring. Some parents describe it as home from home, and that makes us feel really proud.

Our garden and outside activities

The outdoor environment is very important to all our children and we all go on welly walks, participate in Forest School activities and enjoy playing in the puddles on rainy days. We also have our very own dedicated Nursery play garden with log train, dens and bridges.

Our children’s ages

Your child can begin with us at Taunton School Nursery from birth, at any point during the year - depending on availability. We recognise that each stage and age of development is unique and needs different activities and routines. Our four outstanding nursery rooms are split into the following year groups:

  • Nursery One - for babies from birth to one year old
  • Nursery Two - for toddlers aged one to two years old
  • Nursery Three - for children aged two to three years old
  • Nursery Four – for pre-school children aged three to four years old

We match age and stage, as well as development needs, so there is flexibility when moving from Nursery One to Nursery Two.

Staff to child ratios

We understand how important it is that we can give your child the attention that they need at each stage. With this in mind, our staff to child ratios are: Under 2 (1:3), age 2-2.5 (1:4), age 2.5-3 (1.6), age 3 (1:8).

Our curriculum

Taunton School is renowned for excellence in Early Years Education. All classes have qualified Nursery Teachers and Nursery Practioners. And the curriculum is tailor made for each child’s developmental need and well-being. Your child will enjoy a variety of activities and a structured balance of fun-filled and exciting learning opportunities.

Our opening times

The fun starts bright and early at 8am - or even 7.30am if required, at no extra cost. And we extend our day with activities and clubs until 5.45pm if that fits best with your working pattern.

The options are:

  • Full day: 8am - 5.45pm
  • Mornings: 8am to 12.30pm
  • Afternoons: 12.30pm - 5.45pm

The full day and morning only sessions include lunch, drinks and snacks. The afternoon only session includes drinks and snacks.

Children may attend a minimum of three half day sessions per week up to a full time place., all year round or term time only. We do not charge a retention fee for children who attend term time only.

Our School Hobbies and Activity Club

Hobbies run after school from 3.45pm until 4.30pm. These are run by specialist teaching staff and Pre-Prep teachers. And best of all, hobbies are included in your fees.

Each term you select the hobbies for your child, which include multi-sport, musical maths, language, dancing, sewing, messy play and lots more.

Activity Club is also included in your fees and runs from 3.45pm - 5.45 pm. Supervision is organised by the After School Care Team. This is a relaxing fun filled activity club that takes place inside and out. Children decide what they would like to do with staff helping to make informed choices and support the activities.

Our Holiday Club

During the holidays we offer a fun club for children from birth to eight years old. The Holiday Club is run by our existing nursery staff to ensure consistency as well as happy, secure children. Weeks usually have exciting themes and include craft, music and sport with swimming twice a week. Session prices include all outings, packed lunches and a daily hot lunch, tea and snacks.

  • Morning (8am – 12.30pm) - £26 with lunch
  • Afternoon (12.30pm – 5.30pm) - £26 with snack

There’s so much more we’d love to share with you about our nursery and what you and your child can expect from us.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for please call or email us, or better still, join us in the nursery so you can experience the warm and friendly atmosphere for yourself. Our staff would be delighted to make an appointment for you.

I picked Taunton School Nursery not only because I liked the school but also because, unlike other nurseries, there is the flexibility to choose term time or all year round.
