The Association’s main objective is to advance the education of the pupils and enhance their lives whilst at the School. To meet this objective, the Association raises funds to invest in things that will augment your children’s experience at the School. In the past, we’ve donated money to the Pre-Prep and Prep school playground, cricket covers and the pavilion on Greenham, stage lighting for the Centenary Hall, the house rooms in both Senior and Prep School, a score board for the new astro and equipment for the boarding and day houses.

We run many social and fundraising events throughout the year including the traditional Christmas and Summer Fairs, quiz nights, coffee mornings to name but a few. One of the main events of the year is the Summer Ball. This event also celebrates the Leavers as they move onto the next phase of their lives. The Ball is open to all parents and guardians of Taunton School, Taunton Prep School and Taunton Pre-Prep School, the leavers, and staff. This year we are teaming up with the Foundation and the OT’s to run a golf day at Oake Manor Golf Club.

Another important goal of the association is to represent parents’ concerns, ideas and views to the School and to best do that we need your input on a regular basis. Our committee members welcome your input and will bring it to our meetings. All parents are welcome to attend PTA meetings, but can also contribute their thoughts through individual Committee members. Find out who the Committee members are and how to contact them.

Object of the Association
The object of the Association is to advance the education of pupils in the School by:

  • Fostering greater extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the School
  • Engaging in activities that support the school and advance the education of pupils.

Aims of the Association

Some of the aims of the Association are:

  • To represent parents’ views to the Headmasters
  • To hold an Annual General Meeting open to all parents, guardians, and staff once a year
  • To hold at least one Committee meeting per term
  • To identify projects to fund or assist in funding, in discussion with other appropriate bodies
  • To raise money for identified projects
  • Organise social events

The Committee

The management and control of the Association lies with the Committee. This body consists of parent representatives, the Headmaster and members of Staff. The Committee has a Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer whom are elected at the AGM. Parent representatives fill these officer positions.

The Committee meets at least once per term. Dates of the Committee meetings are posted in the School calendar. While only sitting Committee members can vote on issues, parents and staff are most welcome to come along to the meetings. The Committee is working to improve its communication with parents. One of our main objectives is to represent parents’ questions and views to the School.
