Pre-Prep Admissions Process

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 can join the Pre-Prep at any stage to begin their exciting Taunton School education.

Here’s our easy step-by-step guide to the Pre-Preparatory admissions process.

Pre-Prep Prospectus

Early Years Entitlement

All three and four year olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of fully funded early education or childcare per week, for up to 38 weeks a year.

Some families can ‘stretch’ this entitlement to a maximum of 1140 hours a year, depending on their circumstances.

The additional hours will be available to working families that meet the criteria. This will have a significant and positive impact on families and help make childcare more affordable.

The thirty hour funding can also be used in Reception in an Independent School. Funding ends in the term of your child’s fifth birthday.

Taunton School Pre-Prep and Nursery are able to pass on the Early Years Funding Formula base rate worth £4.15 an hour.  This funding reflects the quality of our purpose-built facilities, highly qualified staff and inclusive programme.  We have swimming teachers, specialist music staff, qualified teachers in all EYFS rooms and specialist facilities for the children to use.

We also have information leaflets available. Please contact our Nursery and Pre-Prep Admissions on for a copy.

Admissions Process

1. Enquiry

Please make your enquiry by email or telephone 01823 703339 with your child’s name and date of birth, copy of their passport or birth certificate and their most recent school report.

We’ll send you a Prospectus Pack containing a Registration Form and other relevant information.

Please complete and return the Registration Form along with the £100 registration fee – this will ensure that your child is on the future entrants’ reservation list.

2. Visit and Taster Day

Once we have received your registration form we will invite you in to meet the Head of Pre-Prep and have a tour of our School. We will then invite your child to a Taster Session to come and experience the Pre-Prep.

3. Offer A Place

Subject to a successful Taster Session we will be in a position to offer a place.

4. Acceptance of a Place

Once your child’s place has been allocated, please return the Acceptance Form along with the deposit.
