We are committed to educating the whole child, which is critical to enabling pupils to ‘find their exceptional’.
We offer more than 60 Co-curricular clubs, with 15 different instruments available to learn and 12 competitive sports at national level.
Almost half of our children are involved in the School Choirs; over 150 pupils participate in major music concerts; and more than 70 pupils participate in Taunton Drama Festival each year.
Developing the whole child is vital to us. The Prep School has an exhaustive and wide range of co-curricular clubs which enable all children to ‘find their exceptional’. This enables all children to understand the ’Taunton 12’, personal characteristic which will enable them to thrive and to be successful.

Whether in academics, sports, or performing arts, our activities ignite a sense of ambition, propelling pupils toward their aspirations and preparing them for futures where they can leave a meaningful and lasting impact.
All pupils enjoy curriculum based lessons in Drama and Music but for so many pupils, the performing arts is a key area where they ‘find their exceptional’ through an exhaustive number of clubs, concerts and competitions.
In the 2023 Taunton Drama Festival, 71 TPS pupils took part in 117 different performances at the competition. From these children, 45 pupils in Year’s 2 to Year 8 were awarded with ‘First, Second and Third Placing’s’ in various classes.
In Summer 2023, 59 TPS pupils, in year-groups ranging from Year 2 to Year 8 took Vanguard Speech & Drama exams. The average mark of our exam results was 90% and 18 children were awarded with a mark in the ‘Honours’ banding (a mark of 90% or greater).
We offer a range of sports with more than 800 fixtures a year for our main sports.
