Students can partake in Ballet and Contemporary Jazz Dance Classes in Prep School with an opportunity to be entered for the Royal Academy of Dance examinations.
Our dance classes and participation in school productions all aim to build confidence and performance. Plus develop control of movement, coordination and balance, whilst perfecting many dance styles and techniques.
There are many performance opportunities throughout the year at Taunton School, from School Productions and Theatre Production Weeks, to Performing Arts evenings and An Evening of Dance, where pupils can showcase their dance skills and achievements in front of a live audience of families and friends.

Dance is a great way for Seniors to burn off excess energy, develop their fitness levels and explore the vast variety of dance styles from around the world.
Covering a multitude of dance genres, from ballet, contemporary jazz, lyrical modern and street dance to name but a few, pupils have the chance to perfect their dance moves, whilst developing their confidence through performance.
Along with choreography competitions, Seniors have the opportunity to participate in a range of School Productions to showcase their dance expertise, including Performing Arts Evenings and an annual Dance Show.
Dance has a whole school pathway and the school offers dance clubs that go throughout the school.
At present the following clubs run:

1:1 and small group sessions are available in the following dance styles:
- Commercial and Street Dance
- Dance Fit
- Annual dance show incorporating TPPS, TPS and TS
- The dance and drama students collaborate to create a competition piece which we enter in the Rock Challenge regional competition each year
- Pro-Excel Performance at the London Stadium.
- Various dance theatre trips to watch an array of companies and dance styles
