Wellbeing

We know that when our pupils are happy and feel emotionally supported they enjoy school life and excel at everything they do, which is why every child’s wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us.

Our pastoral care givers, from Housemistresses, Housemasters, House Tutors and staff to other house pupils, provide a cohesive network offering emotional support and practical advice and guidance to ensure pupils enjoy a fun, happy and fulfilling time at Taunton School.

And to put your mind at rest, you have full access to your child’s Housemaster or Housemistress to discuss or share any concerns you might have.

Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) in Years 9-11 concentrates on equipping pupils with the necessary skills to enjoy a happy and fulfilling life and career.

Covering a multitude of topics and both national and international issues affecting society, lessons aim to provide pupils with a greater understanding of the socially, culturally and economically diverse society we live in.

Above all, we aim to develop forward-thinking, tolerant, compassionate and well informed young adults who respect others, their cultures and beliefs, and instil a thirst for knowledge and discovery beyond their school years.

Our Horizons Programme is the perfect way for pupils to get involved with the school community, whilst pursuing their favourite interests and activities. In fact, many of our clubs have been suggested and set up by the pupils themselves.

Whether it’s The Lisk (History), Debating, Modern Languages, Scientific or Maths Society, Investment Club and Young Enterprise, Cookery, Horse Riding, Climbing, Computer Programming, Art or Chess Club, there are plenty of opportunities for pupils to have fun whilst developing friendships, knowledge and life skills.

We were astonished and delighted how quickly the boys settled into Taunton School.
