Sixth Form life is a fun, hectic mix of academic studies, co-curricular activities and plenty of socialising all aimed at developing well rounded, inquisitive and knowledgeable young adults who can achieve anything they put their minds to.

There are numerous areas outside of the classroom where pupils can concentrate on their studies, from the Carrington Library and their house facilities, to upstairs in The Guvvy. And when it’s time to socialise, The Guvvy really comes into its own providing the ideal social hub for both Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth Form pupils to congregate and have fun.

But not only that; regular social events and activities ensure down time is fully maximised. Whether it’s Karaoke, pizza or film evenings, dance classes, quiz nights, meals and skittles at the local pub, themed Sixth Form Socials or our annual Gala Christmas Ball, life in the Sixth From is vibrant and immensely fulfilling.

Getting Involved

Beyond the classroom

It’s not just about achieving academic success in the Sixth Form, which is why we offer unlimited opportunities for pupils to get involved and experience a vast range of activities that are invaluable for application to further education and their future careers.

Whether it’s joining our many clubs and societies, including, debating, cooking, bridge, chess, art and baking, volunteering or participating in sports, music groups and ensembles, drama, dance, Tens Tors, DoE or CFF, pupils have an almost endless choice of activities to enjoy.

In fact, the only complaint seems to be there’s not enough time to experience all of the great opportunities on offer, which fully supports our pupils’ incredible opt-in mentality.

The Guvvy

Along with their house facilities, Sixth Formers also enjoy their own dedicated study and recreational space known as The Guvvy.

A hive of activity, it provides the perfect place to hang out with friends, socialise or to study. There is a large area for dedicated studying in the former Old Library, also in the room there are networked computers and a large colour photocopier. There are the comfy sofas in the Newton Room of in the foyer to chill and relax on with your friends or to read the daily newspapers. Griffins the community shop provides food and drinks that they can consume in the Guvvy.
