Carla was born in Devon and educated at Wellington school. She went on to study at Sussex University, gaining a BA Hons in Geography with Environmental studies. After working in London she returned to Exeter University to gain a PGCE in Geography. Her first teaching post was at Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex where she worked as a teacher of Geography and Housemistress in both girls’ and boys’ houses. After 15 years at Hurst, Carla moved to France to learn a new language and give her children the chance to become bilingual. During this time she was able to teach English as a volunteer in the local primary school. Carla then returned to Brentwood school in Essex as a teacher of Geography and housemistress in a boys’ International boarding house. Carla is delighted to take up her Housemistress and Geography post at Taunton School and is looking forward to ensuring the pupils receive excellent pastoral care and delivering fun and interesting Geography lessons.
