Having graduated in 1997 from the University of Exeter with a degree in Biological Sciences James then spent 8 months exploring and working in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia.

On his return, James spent a number of years working within the Financial Sector in London before deciding on a career change and a move into the teaching profession. This opened up the opportunity to spend some more time exploring the world so James set off on another adventure to Japan, South America, New Zealand, Nepal and Tibet. On his return to the UK in 2004, James completed a PGCE in Secondary Science at the University of Reading. September 2018 marks the start of his fifteenth year working in education.

Although predominantly a teacher of science, James has also enjoyed roles as Head of Outdoor Education, Head of Science, Head of Year and Director of Studies. Whatever the role James has played in a school the highlight has always been working with so many gifted and unique young people. Playing a part in shaping their future is truly rewarding. James feels delighted to have been appointed to the position of Head of Taunton International Middle School. It is a privilege to be part of such a dedicated team who do a fantastic job to ensure that all students who join us are happy, healthy and fulfil their academic potential.
