Born in Bath to a Welsh father and an English mother, Matt has spent much of his life on the move due to his father’s job with the RAF. He was educated at Wellington School and was a boarder, an experience he remembers fondly as he returns to Somerset to join TSI as one of the GRAs.
Matt gained a 2:1 degree in Politics and International relations from Cardiff University and played for the department rugby team. He was also a member of Wales Universities Royal Naval Unit and served on-board the patrol vessel HMS Express. During this time, he was team coach at the Royal Navy rugby 7s tournament in Yeovil for the URNU national team, where he coached the team to third place last time out. He remains open to joining the Royal Navy in the future.
Matt is a proud supporter of Wales and Wasps. He enjoys reading on the quiet and swimming for fitness, whilst also being a keen skier. Matt’s academic interests include Political history, in particular, twentieth century historical developments and modern world politics.
He is looking forward to getting back into the boarding environment and developing his mentoring skills through supporting the development and learning of pupils, both in the classroom and on the sports field.
