Taunton School was founded in 1847. It is an independent day and boarding school with approximately 1,150 pupils, aged from 0 – 18 years, with circa 400 boarders. There are five Schools on site; a Nursery and Pre Prep, Preparatory, Senior and two International Schools. The School also has a commercial arm to the business and runs educational courses during the holiday periods as well as events and other activities. We aim to challenge, nurture and inspire young people to succeed in a global community.

About the role

Taunton School requires a Temporary Health Centre Matron (Term Time Only) to join its on-site Health Centre.  The Health Centre supports students and staff with pastoral and medical needs.  It is a hive of activity and the Matron role is part of a large and supportive multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will work on a flexible basis, with varying shifts to cover days, nights and weekends.  Overall, you will provide general medical cover however assistance with the on-site COVID testing of students and staff, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, will be a key part of the role.  Full PPE and training will be provided.

About you

It’s not essential for you to have previous medical experience or a First Aid qualification, as training will be given to the successful candidate.  However, it would be an advantage if you do have one or both of these.

More importantly, it is about the person you are.  You must be caring, empathetic, friendly and approachable, with a real commitment to teamwork.
