Taunton School Main Building at Dusk

A wonderfully wizarding day out

Posted: 18th January 2017

On Sunday, Taunton School International took a trip to the famous Warner Brother Studios to visit the Harry Potter exhibition.

At the start, we were ushered into a cinema where Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint explained about all the people involved in the making of the films. Then the cinema screen rolled up and we were faced with the same huge doors that Harry and his friends would have encountered on their first day at Hogwarts.

Hearts in our mouths, the doors were pushed open and we were led into the actual Grand Hall! It was an amazing feeling to be treading on the very flagstones from all those famous scenes in the eight films. The guide told us a little about the sets and props that we would be seeing on the tour and then we were free to explore the rest of the displays at our leisure. The vast array of props, costumes, sets and special effects was awesome. We even had the chance to ride a broom, go on the Hogwarts Express and try the world-famous Butter Beer. Other highlights included Privet Drive, Diagon Alley, the Potions classroom and of course the magnificent scale model of the castle at the end.

The final stop was the amazing gift shop, where many a wand was purchased as well as a fair few “All-flavoured” jelly beans. Overall, the trip ran smoothly and it was fantastic to see all the students from different nationalities bonding over the shared interest that is Harry Potter.
