Academic Courses

As Taunton School offers such a wide range of academic courses (depending on age and level of English) we are confident that we can find the right course for you.

Our Young Learners (7 – 13 years old) are educated at the Prep School or the International Middle School and study a wide range of subjects designed to give them a broad and varied education so that they can discover their true passions and build some solid academic foundations on which to build before they move on to the Senior School.

Students between the ages of 13 – 16 years old are very much focused on preparing for and taking their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education).  These are the exams everyone needs to pass in order to continue their education at Sixth Form level.

In Year 9 (13 – 14 years old), students follow a Pre-GCSE programme with some subject choice available and in Years 10 – 11 (14 – 16 years old), students follow the two-year GCSE programme, where they can specialise a little more, taking up to 10 subjects.

For those students who join the British education system at 15 years old (Year 11), we offer a fast-track, one-year GCSE programme at Taunton School International, where students usually take between 5 – 8 GCSES in just one year.

Following successful completion of GCSEs, students can then move on to the last 2 years of compulsory study, often called the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13).  At Taunton School, we offer 4 different pathways, all of which lead to University entrance either in the UK or abroad.

Taunton School has an excellent reputation for getting students to the university of their choice.  On average, 95% of our students are offered a place at University either in the UK or abroad and in the last 10 years, more than 40 of our students have been offered Oxbridge places.
