Welcome to International Summer School

A warm welcome to the Summer School at Taunton School.

It is with great pleasure that each summer we welcome students from all over the world to Taunton School International Summer School. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, diverse and nurturing environment that inspires and challenges every students to find their exceptional.

At Taunton School, we have been educating students on our Summer School programmes for over 20 years. Our programme provides a wonderful balance of academic excellence with an action-packed leisure programme full of trips, sports and activities. We offer a genuine taste of British boarding school life with pastoral staff who go the extra mile for our students to help them create memories and friendships they will never forget.

Why Join Our Summer School

12 Students

The maximum class size is 12 students.  This provides groups small enough to ensure individual attention but large enough to facilitate paired and group work essential to creativity and peer to peer learning.

45 hours of tuition

Students receive 45 hours of formal tuition each 2 week course.  Students study both English and their chosen course.

Full board

The Summer School provides full board accommodation.  This includes well-furnished rooms, shower and bathroom facilities, food and laundry.

Our year round staff

All of our teaching staff are qualified and experienced teachers.  A majority of Summer School staff teach at Taunton School year round.

Over 35 nationalities

In 2023 Taunton International Sumer School welcomed over 45 nationalities.  The School values the diversity in culture, traditions and language that students from six continents bring to the Summer School.

 

Additional Benefits

Up to 25 Hours of English: Core English for Levels A1 – B2, focusing on the 4 skills + vocabulary & grammar or Advanced English for Levels C1 – C2, focusing on literature, public speaking, creative writing & advanced aural skills.

5 excursions: Spend a morning at Stonehenge, an afternoon indoor sky diving, and the evening paddle boarding on a lake – the fun never stops!

Amazing Facilities: Students are able to access the wonderful facilities on our 56-acre campus, including swimming pools, fitness suite, tennis courts, sports pitches, sports halls, climbing wall, squash courts, IT suites, theatre & library.

Fun-filled activities: Continue the fun once lessons have ended with daily activities, including T-Shirt painting, zorbing, quizzes, ultimate frisbee & archery

Support for International Students

Travel and Transfers

The School provides airport transfers to and from the school.  These are free on transfer days at the start and end of the course between certain hours of the day to and from Bristol and London Heathrow Airports.

The School’s fleet of coaches and minibuses provides all other travel during the course.

VISAs and Passports

Students from the European Union, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland, or from an Overseas Country or Territory (OCT); can enter the UK with a valid Passport to study for up to 6 months.  A visa is not required.

Students from countries not listed above require a visa and a valid passport to enter the United Kingdom.  Students attending Taunton School in September will be contacted by our Admissions Department to discuss their visa application. Students who will attend the Summer School or Pre-Sessional course and return home, will need a Short Term Student Study Visa.  Once you have registered on a Summer School course you will be sent a supporting letter to help with your visa application.

Fees and Payments

Fees Include: Full board, tuition, teaching materials, insurance, airport transfers* and all trips and activities.

Visa application fees are not included.

Full payment is required by Friday 31st May 2024, or 2-weeks prior to your course starting if booking after this date.  Refunds after this date will only be given if a student is unable to secure a visa, if flight restrictions are imposed or they are unfit to travel.  For additional information please refer to our Terms and Conditions which are available upon request.

*Not applicable to the Pre-Sessional Course and subject to airport, date and time of arrival.

Taunton School has partnered with Flywire to streamline the fee payment process for our students and parents. Flywire offers multiple payment options, excellent foreign exchange rates and allows you to pay from almost any country. They will ensure that your payment arrives safely and accurately. You will also be able to track the progress of your payments.

To make an initial payment you must first register with Flywire. To register, enter a Country and the amount you wish to transfer.  Select Login/Sign Up and choose the Sign Up option.  Once you have completed the registration form you will be able to make and receive payments using Flywire.

Summer School Terms and Conditions

Medical and Insurance

The School has its own Medical Centre and team of qualified staff.  A Matron provides day-to-day support for the Summer School.  The School is registered with a local Doctors’ Surgery and is 10 minutes from the county hospital in Taunton, which has accident and emergency facilities.

We recommend that students take out their own travel insurance to ensure that they have a level of cover that meets their particular needs.  A summary of the insurance cover provided by the School is in the link below.

I am nervous about arriving at the airport.  What happens when I arrive?

A member of the Summer School team will be waiting at the Arrival Gate to collect you and take you to a coach, minibus or private taxi to travel to Taunton School.  You will have emergency contact numbers if you need help at UK Border Control or baggage collection.

Will I like the food?

The School has new dining room and catering facilities offering a range of foods at each meal.  You will be able to choose something that you like. We cater for special dietary requirements.
