Penguins galore and more!

Posted: 25th November 2016

Thank you to Year One for a really informative sharing assembly and it was great to have all the parent support too!

It has been another week full of learning and celebration and today I have presented a record number of Celebration certificates! Another weekly highlight is looking through the selection of topic books, pieces of art work, Science, English and Maths work and photographs that evidences all the learning and progress taking place. In celebration assembly the children are also asked to talk through their learning story. What have you learnt and how do you know that fact? This is when their joy and love of learning shines through.

A little person in Year Two told me “I know I love learning about adjectives because when I am asked to pack away my work I feel disappointed as I want to carry on with my story writing!“ A Year One child said: “I accidentally said in my report writing that penguins can be found in the Antarctic – so I drew this little penguin visiting for the day with his suitcase – he was going on holiday and ended up in the wrong place!” Excellent thinking skills, humour and reflection that was quickly recognised and challenged by a pupil of only five!

In Pre-Prep it is cool to learn and we are really trying to encourage our children to articulate the skills they are using, talk about the challenges and share and debate their views. We are all different and there are many ways we all learn and at different paces! It is important that the children develop a really positive, can-do attitude.

Next week we will be featuring and focusing on all the different Nursery rooms and introducing you all to our team members as in Pre-Prep and Nursery we have some new faces.
