House Singing Competition 2018

Posted: 23rd October 2018

A huge well done to Jenkin who were crowned House Singing Competition for 2018! Despite performing first, the judges loved their rendition of Little Mix’s ‘Salute’ so much that they took home the coveted trophy. The judges explained that really brought the spirit of the song to life and, though the competition from the other houses was strong, the passion and enthusiasm felt during the performance was worthy of the title.

Head Judge Paul Denegri said of the competition: “I have judged competitions for schools, universities and more all over the UK but there is nothing, I mean nothing, that compares to this. This is unique. Do not lose this Taunton School. This is incredible.” High praise for Taunton, indeed!

Warm up acts showcased a variety of talents including rapping, instrumentals and dancing. Other songs sang included The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), ABBA’s Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) and I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys. A nostalgic throwback for many of the teachers and staff!
