Weirfield celebrate Chinese New Year

children celebrating chinese new year

The celebrations to usher in 2020 and a new decade seem like a distant memory after a busy few weeks back at school, however the Weirfield girls brightened up a cold and wet January by celebrating Chinese New Year
or the Lunar Festival on this week’s ‘Feast Friday’.

Weirfield is lucky enough to be made up of girls from all over the world and so we try and celebrate a range of international events throughout the year and therefore could not pass up the opportunity to enjoy this important event. The house was decked out with Chinese papercuts and our evening began with some Chinese cookery which culminated in a delicious feast of Chinese dishes and dim sum. We also enjoyed a Chinese New Year quiz.

It was a lovely evening and the perfect way to welcome in in the Year of the Rat, as well as to relax after a busy period of exams!
