On Friday 6th March, Taunton School CCF had its Biennial Inspection under the watchful eye of reviewing officer, Colonel Ashley Fulford.

Colonel Fulford is currently in post as Colonel Cadets at HQSW and has over 40 years’ experience in the Cadet Force, where he began as a Cadet himself in Devon ACF. The day began with a formal Parade (in the rain, as become the norm recently). Colonel Fulford was joined by the Headmaster and Major Pring for the Inspection of the Cadets and the Honour Guard. Following the Inspection, the presentation of the Goodson Sword was made to Barney Dietz for his commitment and the leadership he has shown over the past two years.

Following the parade, Cadets began their activities which include Climbing, Skill at Arms, Knot tying, Rocket Design, Drumming and First Aid. Colonel Fulford was impressed with the range of activities we could offer and the knowledge of the adult instructors as well as the engagement of the Cadets in what they were doing. The afternoon finished with a blank firing demonstration from the Senior Army Cadets who performed an excellent section attack on two enemy positions. Throughout the afternoon the Cadets were a credit to the CCF and the school and I look forward to seeing what else they can achieve in the future.
