Taunton School International Foundation Year students at Careers Fair

On Wednesday 21st September, a group of TSI’s IFY sixth-form students attended a university careers fair in Ashton Gate, Bristol. As university beckons for many of our students, it was a great opportunity to find out more about prospective universities and courses, offering our students a time to reflect on their future steps.

Makary Mishuta, a TSI sixth-former hoping to study business or economics, was particularly enthused by the vast number of students attending. Being in the presence of so many like-minded individuals with university aspirations has given him further eagerness to study hard to secure a place at one of the top UK universities.

Likewise, Maxwell Karasev, who is keen to study economics or maths, found the atmosphere motivating. The wide range of universities attending the fair offered the students a broad range of options, and provided plenty of reading material to ensure they select the universities which best suit them.

Victoria Griffiths, university coordinator at TSI, said ‘this was a brilliant opportunity to talk with representatives from universities from across the UK. It was a great way for our students to start focussing on what type of university they aspire to go to, alongside allowing them to reflect upon universities which they may not previously have considered’. As university application season draws closer, this was undeniably a visit which has kick-started this exciting process for our IFY students.
