Taunton School musicians perform in Concerto Concert

Posted: 23rd November 2022

Twelve talented and dedicated musicians at Taunton School took part in a Concerto Competition in the chapel.

The evening concert was a showcase for the best solo performers in the school, representing all year groups and playing a variety of instruments such as the piano, violin, flute, horn, trumpet and trombone. The programme included music by Mozart, Strauss and Shostakovich, with other Romantic era pieces alongside striking European twentieth century music, and a concerto by Chinese composers Chen Gang and He Zhanhao.

The students were performing for visiting adjudicator Sam Gladstone, the Director of Music at Radley College. He commented, “it was remarkable to hear performances not only so technically well-prepared, but also highly musical and communicative”. Head of Keyboard, Karis Stretton, provided wonderful support for all the performers, both in rehearsals before the event and accompanying all of the musicians at the piano in the concert.

Congratulations to all of the following students who delivered such compelling performances.
