Posted: 13th October 2023

Taunton School is celebrating the outstanding success of its Taunton School International Middle School (TSIMS) students in the recent results of their English examinations. The results showcase the students’ exceptional abilities and dedication to their studies. All the revision sessions and hard work really paid off!

Data from our Trinity College London Integrated Skills In English (ISE) examinations highlighted a remarkable 93% pass rate and TSIMS students demonstrated their proficiency in various key skill areas, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Notably, 54% of the students achieved a merit or distinction in at least one of these skill areas, highlighting their exceptional performance.

Furthermore, an impressive 18% of TSIMS students attained a merit or distinction in all four key skill areas. This outstanding achievement is a testament to their hard work, determination, and the effective teaching methods employed by the English Department at TSIMS.

Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE) examination data:

  • 93% pass rate
  • 54% achieving a merit or distinction in at least one of the key skill areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • 18% achieving a merit or distinction in all four of the key skill areas

The exams are split into two sections; students undergo a one-to-one speaking and listening exam at the end of the spring term, followed by a two-hour reading and writing exam, at the end of the summer term.

“The academic nature of the Trinity ISE curriculum prepares students well for public examinations as they move on to Taunton Senior School or Taunton School International”, said James Duncan, Head of International Middle School.

As TSIMS continues to nurture and empower its students, it is evident that their accomplishments in the English language will open doors to future academic and professional opportunities, enabling them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. These results serve as a testament to the dedication of both the students and the faculty.

Well done!
