Dear School Community,
It is with great regret that I write to inform you of Henry Keeling’s resignation as Chair of Governors as a consequence of the advanced stage of his terminal illness. A proud Old Tauntonian, Henry has been a member of the Board since 2012 and has been Chair since 2015. His dedication and affection for the School is enormous, epitomised by his continued devotion over the last three years whilst managing his illness. In a typically gracious and moving resignation letter, Henry commented that “serving on the Board of Governors has been one of the most important and rewarding things that I have done in my life.’’ Henry also wished our new Chair of Governors every success in helping the school to realise its ambitions in the coming years.
The Board of Governors has conducted an extensive external search for a new Chair. It is with great pleasure that I can announce Mark Anderson has been co-opted on to the Board and appointed as Chairman Elect, subject only to the ratification at the AGM in March 2024. Mark comes with an immense depth of senior commercial, executive and leadership experience, with recent roles at Virgin Atlantic Airways and Connect Airways. On his appointment Mark has commented: “I very much look forward to working with both the Board of Governors and James and his Executive Leadership Team at this most exciting time. Henry leaves big shoes to fill. The School is thriving, with exciting developments and challenges to come in equal measure in the near future’’.
