Benefits of Working Here

It’s not just our students we take care of, so as well as the chance to work in an inspiring environment, with beautiful surroundings, we offer the following benefits to staff.

Competitive Annual Leave Entitlement

All staff receive a competitive annual leave entitlement, including the statutory bank holidays.  Staff on TTO contracts have this factored in to their working pattern.

Pension Schemes for Academic and Non-Academic staff

We offer a money purchase scheme to our Non-Academic staff, whilst Academic staff have the option to join either the Teachers’ Pension Scheme or the Defined Pension Contribution Scheme through Royal London.

Simply Health (subsidised health plans)

Simply Health provides cost-effective, accessible and manageable health cash plans.  We are able to offer discounted access to staff.

Employee Assistance Programme

All staff have 24/7 access to an EAP provided by DAS for legal, health and medical advice, in addition to counselling sessions

Discounted membership of Taunton School’s Sports Club

Our membership package includes use of two swimming pools, a modern fitness suite, and an extensive range of sports facilities including tennis, squash and use of the sports hall.

Discounts with local businesses

We have a range of discounts that have been generously provided by local businesses, including Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Gym, Pizza Express, Buff Day Spa and more…

Access to onsite refreshment and meal facilities

In 2020 we built a state-of-the-art dining hall with a large modern kitchen to accommodate the whole school community. This is a light and spacious facility which is open to staff. In addition to this, we also have Griffins our onsite shop which sells a wide range of drinks and snacks

Cycle to Work scheme

As an organisation we have chosen Green Commute Initiative as our Cycle to Work scheme provider.  Green Commute Initiative is the UK’s industry-leading cycle to work scheme with the dual purpose of improving both the individual’s health and wellbeing, as well as reducing the environmental impact of pollution and congestion from cars. As a not-for-profit organisation, GCi puts its efforts into getting more commuters cycling and supporting independent bike shops whilst supporting those with a mobility issue or those who have additional support needs, meaning it’s fully inclusive.

Refer a Friend Scheme

We believe that staff are our greatest and most valuable asset, and this scheme involves and financially rewards our staff for referring like-minded candidates who join our school community.

Learning and development opportunities

From Induction to mandatory training; from INSET to CPD programmes; we are committed to learning and development ensuring that you can grow and develop in your role.

Wellbeing Resources

It’s not just the wellbeing of our students that is important to us. We know that promoting wellbeing can help prevent stress and create positive working environments where individuals and organisations can thrive. We are committed to staff wellbeing and have a dedicated wellbeing section on our Intranet which is regularly updated, and a Whole School Policy that links to work undertaken within our focus group.

Free onsite parking

Ok, so it’s not that exciting, but as a large employer close to the town centre we feel it is a benefit to be able to park onsite at no cost!
