Join us for an engaging discussion of diplomacy and current international relations when tweets, TikTok and Insta are faster than cable messages. Peter Westmacott will talk about successful recent British diplomacy, the aftermath of Brexit and how Britain can now make a difference internationally.
After leaving Taunton School, Peter Westmacott (1964-68, Foxcombe) read French and History at Oxford and joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). He served in Iran for four years before the 1979 revolution, worked at the European Commission, and saw the end of the Cold War. His career culminated in prestigious postings as HM Ambassador to Turkey, France and the United States.
