Our Pre-Med Programme appeals to students who are keen to pursue a career in medicine.
It aims to give pupils an insight into the careers of medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. The course ranges from meeting current professionals, to investigating topical issues, to help with work experience, to specific preparation for personal statements and interviews.
Pupils in the Lower Sixth interested in these careers meet every week on a Saturday morning and through these sessions turn from interested pupils to informed young adults, ready to embark upon these competitive vocational courses.
The course aims to develop the necessary skills required for aspiring medics, dentists and vets of the future and to guide them through the process of applying to university.
The course will familiarise students with medical terminology, prepare them for interviews, BMAT and UKCAT, develop confident communication and interpersonal skills and encourage independent reading and research.
To date, our pre-med students have had 100% success at interviews often receiving offers for all four of their university choices.
